Operating Mode

Subsonus Tag can be placed in two operation modes depending on the application.

Performance Mode

When operating in Performance Mode:

• Acoustic interrogations are continuously monitored

• All sensors are running

• The battery is depleted faster, around 24 hours of tracking at 1Hz acoustic interrogation interval

This mode should be used for any job where the Subsonus Tag is retrieved after tracking, i.e. ROV tracking, Diver tracking, etc.

Endurance Mode

When operating in Endurance Mode:

• Acoustic interrogations require a wake signal, this is less sensitive, to acoustic interrogations, than the continuous listening mode.

• Sensors are off and only sampled when replying

• Battery life is extended, up to 18 months with minimal interrogations

In this mode Subsonus Tag can be deployed, tracked briefly during deployment then left for months and retrieved at a later date.

Endurance Mode is less sensitive than Performance Mode and should not be used unless actually required for the application.

Note: If operating in an environment that has acoustic interference that wakes the device erroneously the battery life may be reduced.
